End of Year Shout Out May. 6th, 2006 @ 12:26 am
A brief end of year shout out.

As you can see by the change in my
user picture I have become a mature responsible adult and will have to soon learn to make my way in the world.

This includes interviewing for various internships as well as forms of employment.

I'm getting an apartment next year for sure and sometime between now and August I'll know exactly where that is.

I'll be busy this summer - the world is my oyster; unfortunately the world is fried right now and I am not a fan of fried.

I'll be in Maryland for awhile and possible with be working there as the paper...offered me a job..you know the one...which would allow me to also do the magazine but I am also considering a human rights group out of DC and they will let me work via...F County.

I love NY but I could use a few weeks or even a couple of months away.
Hey I see those U of MD, Bucknell, OWU, W and M and U of Denver hits to my blog....cat got your tongues.........

Love you all and you can post now that I have posted.

My Darfur Journal - http://hellonearth.wordpress.com/

Will be in DC for rally on the 30th and probably in for seminars starting Friday.

http://www.savedarfur.org/rally/

That's it I'm out.

John is coming in with some people from Brown Friday.

Lookin' back on how it was
In years gone by
And the good times that I had
Makes today seem rather sad
So much has changed.

It was songs of love that
I would sing to then
And I'd memorize each word
Those old melodies
Still sound so good to me
As they melt the years away.

Every Sha-la-la-la
Every Wo-o-wo-o
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're startin' to sing's
So fine.

Not sure about this summer, looking at a couple of internships and jobs NY, Maryland ,DC.

Whatever works out.

Girls and Boys note my address change to wonderlandornot.net

eventually wonderlandornot.com will direct there but godaddy is slow.

livingwellornot.blogspot.com will not longer be posted to because it goes down too often...only for me not for everyone else and when it goes down it tells everyone to go to a better blogger platform suggesting wordpress..so I can certainly take a hint.

later

comments off this time.

Sorry just a quickie.
Does anyone still post here?
I’m sorry I just can’t keep this up but I’ll do my best.
I’m ill this weekend although CR you will be proud to know that despite feeling like shit I went running this morning because as it turned out I had a running partner for the morning. A running partner is a premium commodity here. So despite not being able to take a breath and, I think, having a slight fever I went to Central Park. You will also be happy to note that I still have not found a running partner such as you. I only say this so you do not have to remind me of it…again.

I think that running does give me antibodies to fight illness because I feel, at least for the moment, somewhat better.

I think I will be in Maryland for part of my spring break. I may be going to Costa Rica with G and the D if the D goes along with possible one or two others. If that turns out to be the case my real spring break is a week earlier than the trip and as we are leaving from down there I will go there and stay either at my parents old home, which up until not long ago was being occupied by post Katrina families but is currently empty, or to the loft my mother owns downtown. Not sure but if I’m around I’ll check in. I have to see Justin anyway. You all remember Justin..the guy from Cali that was in the first male class at Hood and is still going out with Brit….

Enough of that.

I may be back here this month or at least by February.

Don’t write me at the nyu addy I use that only for school stuff and you are likely to get deleted. Use the g mail addy , the old yahoo addy is still there but I never use it so when I checked it last week there were hundred of emails and I had to delete them all. :(
» Happy Hoilday to You
It’s after Christmas so I am technically late in wishing you all a Happy Holiday.

Happy Holiday.

I’m in RI, still not used to my parents living here. Lots of friends and family all day, you know the drill.

May be heading to Hawaii, not sure if I am going or not but crazy uncle will be there so I am tempted and then again there is the water…. Some day this week I will go snowboarding with Ben……..he is up visiting Matt.

Life is the same. School, school…fun, school, school, school ……..school, school….fun, fun.

I don’t want to get too deep for you all during the holidays I know how you hate that. I hope you are all well and I will write something in here eventually ….or not.

Love

I should have posted this earlier but haven't had the time. Go to http://wonderlandornot.com it will do you good.

Anthony and Chris I know you read it as umd and usc Greensboro come up ten times a day or at least twenty times a week, as does umbc for that matter and Georgetown and U of Chigago. Lol

Frederick has certainly gotten a lot bigger in a very short time and I was happy to see the new Ethiopian restaurant and of course additional twenty or so Japanese places. The Indian places go without saying as there has been kick ass Indian food there for some time.

I had a great time at home with my friends especially Addy and G, missed D as he was at BB; if I missed you this time I’ll catch you maybe next time I was in and out. Johnny that means you; although, with you at Brown I will most likely see you sooner rather than later.

Josh says you have turned into a fine specimen of a human being. Lol

Not that it is that great a compliment coming from Josh but then again he has turned into a fairly decent human being himself so maybe I am wrong on that after all.

Has anyone talked to Emily?

My parents came into town for a few hours yesterday. We went to the metropolitan museum of art to see two specific exhibits and then to eat. Ho Hum.

We went out to look at apartments this morning. I’ll say no more on that as NYU may or may not let me out of my housing contract.

Not sure about holiday break, will let everyone know. My father did purchase the home he leased in PR for two years so that's a possibility as well as some snowboarding. I have more then enough work to do to keep me in the city and Addy was possibly coming in to town for one or two days over Thanksgiving. I‘ll be at Ethan’s place if I stay in the city; he is leaving to go to Colorado with his sister for four days.

You can fill me in if you want but I’m not likely to post a lot in here over the next couple weeks.

I’ve spent a good part of the day trying to get rid of a Trojan thing called smitfraud-c.
I don’t want to jinx myself but I think I finally got it.

Las thing- nowickedwitch.com will not longer point here i'm just going point to wonderland or not ...for now.

My monthly progress report;

If you haven't linked my blog please feel free but don't post inane college boy frat stuff in it please. ;)

I love you Chris but ....you know if it wasn't for all the years you ran with me I would slap you hard.... or is that Anthony? I forget.

Heading to the Catskills this evening for a night of "who killed the guy who owns this place" type of thing; don't ask me why. I am assigned to be a sleazy widow but won't know if I am the murderer until I get there.

Out Damn Spot I say.

Looking at apartments but this school is hard nose on letting anyone out of their housing contract...it's more like "sure move out but you are still going to pay us".

I spend a lot of time at Ethan’s because he has an awesome apartment in So Ho; nice place and so much more functional with a couple of spare bedrooms.

I'm super busy this year as you all are I am sure.

I want to do the Andes next summer for sure, but I want to get out of here in January of next year with two majors so I will have to see how it goes.

I'll post when I can or when I feel like it.

Please don't drink or drug and drive. I hate when that happens.
» BE A WITNESS
Tomorrow, October 18 , please join thousands around the country in a National Call-In Day for Darfur coordinated by the Genocide Intervention Fund , the Save Darfur coalition, and the Friends Committee on National Legislation.

Last year, Congress and the Bush administration declared that genocide was underway in the western Darfur region of Sudan. Today, even amidst reports of spiraling violence, Congress has failed to take action to address the ongoing crisis. In recent weeks, attacks against civilians in camps, humanitarian workers, and most recently, African Union (AU) peacekeepers, have prompted the AU Peace and Security Council to call on the UN Security Council to address the deteriorating security situation in Darfur.

Members of Congress need to hear from constituents that there is strong public support for promoting peace and accountability in Darfur. Please take a moment tomorrow to call your senators and representative and ask them to support the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act– an important piece of legislation that outlines necessary next steps toward ending the violence in Darfur. Information on contacting your members of Congress and a sample script to help you make the calls is included below.

Please pass this message on to others to multiply our message. Thank you for your willingness to take action and for your continued commitment to saving lives in Darfur.

Thank you for your support,
Brian Komar, American Progress Action Fund, for the entire Be A Witness team

Thank you for joining the National Call-In Day for Darfur! To call your senators and representative:

Contact the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and provide your zip code or ask for your member of Congress by name. You'll be transferred to the member's office.

Look up your members of Congress
Check if your members of Congress are cosponsors of the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act
What to say when you call:

Below are two basic scripts to use on the phone. Version 1 is a bit more complex but is likely to be a bit more effective. If you don't have the time or feel uncomfortable with version 1, feel free to use version 2. Whether you use one of these or just talk to the offices in your own words, the important thing is letting your elected representatives know that you care about Darfur and that you expect them to do something about it.

Version 1

Hi, this is ___ calling from ___. I'd like to know if Congressman/Congresswoman/Senator ___ is a cosponsor of the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act (H.R. 3127 in the House of Representatives; S. 1462 in the Senate).

If yes: That's great. I would appreciate a written response on what he/she is doing to make sure that this bill gets a vote before Congress adjourns this year. This is just too important to leave undone. And thank you for your time.
If no or not sure: I've heard that this is the only bill with a real chance of passing this year, and that it has bipartisan support. As a constituent, I urge Congressman/Congresswoman/Senator ___ to cosponsor the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act. Can you send me a letter letting me know if he/she will become a cosponsor? This bill is just too important to leave undone. Thank you for your time.
Version 2

Hi, this is ___ calling from ___. I would like to let the Congressman/Congresswoman/Senator know that I support the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act (H.R. 3127 in the House of Representatives; S. 1462 in the Senate) and hope that he/she will too. If possible, I'd like a written response letting me know his/her position. Thanks.

Flying down for a wedding of a close family friend, anyone that knows what I am talking about I might see you there. If not I am flying out Sunday morning. If you want to hook up with me the wedding is in the evening so it will be after midnight or Sunday morning for breakfast.

I'll try to write more in here but I don't seem to have that much time lately. Read wonderlandornot, I'm kind of stuck on that right now.

NY IS SUPPOSED TO BE COLD.

First grade teacher in the Midwest is explaining to her class that she is a Republican and how nice it is that a new Republican president has taken office. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Republicans and support George Bush. Everyone in class raises their hands except one little girl. "Mary," says the teacher with surprise, "why didn't you raise your hand?" Because I'm not a Republican," says Mary. "Well, what are you?" asks the teacher. "I'm a Democrat and proud of it," replies the little girl. The teacher cannot believe her ears. "My goodness, Mary, why are you a Democrat?" she asks. "Well, my momma and papa are Democrats, so I'm a Democrat, too." "Well," says the teacher in an annoyed tone, "that's no reason for you to be a Democrat. You don't always have to be like your parents. What if your momma was a criminal and your papa was a criminal, too, what would you be then?" Mary smiled. "Then we'd be Republicans.

Ben showed up from Maryland and hopefully he will be able to write about it in his dj, the one he never writes in, as I am introducing him to Matt. He called me out of the blue and is here looking at grad school at the RISD. This is awesomeness as I am such a matchmaker. I may have to erase this if they hate each other. Matt is politically inclined and Ben, as we know , although he has his moments, leans more toward the illusive.

» Happy Holiday Weekend

Great weekend, spent most of it with Ethan as well as my brother and Anna;
Josh is leaving for Italy for tomorrow; when he returns he will be moving into his house and getting ready for school. Anna will be heading to grad school at BU. That should work out fine for them I guess. It appears they are seriously together at this point in time.
I’m so sunburned and tired and my lungs are full of smoke from two days worth of fireworks. Saw a great band in town this evening and only agreed to the fireworks thing because everyone else seemed up for it.
I still love my class and work is not too bad I have met some interesting people and I also have been putting together my own group of architectural photos. I was asked to go to do a shoot with this guy from Nantucket, up in Montreal but had to decline due to the class I am teaching. I should be sad about this but I am not really.
I'm tired, can't write anymore.
